Weekend Respites Add Choices

Date posted: October 7, 2013

Adults and teens attending Stepping Stones weekend respite camps this fall will have eight new activities to choose from. The Respites are divided into four blocks of time. Participants get to choose between two classes for each time block. This new approach offers Respite attendees the freedom to decide how they want to spend their weekend.

Respite participants choose one class for each Time Block. Here are the choices:

Time Block 1:

  • Scrapbooking. We will integrate photography, arts and crafts and creativity to create a fall Respite scrapbook. Participants who choose this option will build their personal scrapbooks each weekend they attend.
  • Cooking. Learn basic cooking skills, interpret and make recipes and learn how to understand nutrition charts.

Time Block 2:

  • Zumba. This adaptive class will have a blast dancing, exercising and staying fit.
  • Geocaching. We will go on a camp-wide treasure hunt while learning basic navigational and nature skills.

Time Block 3:

  • Healthy Living. This class will learn the importance of living a healthy and active lifestyle and how to integrate their learning into everyday activities.
  • World Culture. Every week, we will learn about a different and unique culture from around the world.

Time Block 4:

  • Current Events. This class will discuss what is going on in the world today, such as pop culture and politics.
  • Rights and Responsibilities. In this informative class, we will discuss our rights and responsibilities in everyday life.

Weekend Overnight Respites are offered twice a month during the school year at Stepping Stones’ Camp Allyn site in Clermont County, OH.
