Respites are always a lot of fun – but throwing a Prom into the weekend schedule was exhilarating!

Our participants were very excited to take part in this weekend. On Friday March 21, camp held a Prom Rally, where interested participants made campaign posters to promote themselves as potential court members! Throughout the day on Saturday, participants worked on Prom themed activities, such as: making duct tape belts and ties, Nail Art, baking ‘Stain Glass’ cookies, choreographing dances and much more.

At each meal, we grew closer and closer to selecting our King and Queen as Prom Court was announced and each participant submitted their own votes. Our fleet of Clough United Methodist Church volunteer showed up with arms full of handmade corsages, makeup and hair tools, and many fabulous dresses. After dinner, the volunteers split into teams to decorate, design a photo booth, prepare a snack table and ready our participants for an unforgettable evening.

As everyone began to arrive, they were greeted by members of the youth group dressed in suits and gowns while lined up outside the entrance of Pettingill Hall. Witnessing their entrance as magical! The ladies, beautifully dressed in sequins and lace were escorted in with a volunteer at their side and large smiles across their faces. The men rolled in with suits and ties, looking incredibly handsome.

DJ HD played a fantastic mix of songs while participants filled the dance floor. Regina, our amazing volunteer photographer, hopped from group to group capturing these moments and helping make lifelong memories.

Towards the end of the evening, the Prom Court was invited to the front for recognition. Then, the room exploded as Prince Ellsworth, Princess Amber, King David and Queen Megan were crowned and given sashes displaying their titles. The night was an absolute success, one that no one will soon forget.

Sincerely,
