Kay Pettengill Honored for Her Support of People with Disabilities

Stepping Stones Trustee Emeritus Kay Pettengill was honored for her tireless support of people with disabilities and the Greater Cincinnati community at the Cincinnati Charter Committee’s Charles P. Taft Civic Gumption Award event on May 28.
Kay Pettengill and Eric Avner, vice president of the Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile Jr./US Bank Foundation received engraved star awards for their “contributions toward the strengthening of the civic fabric of this community”
Retired Cincinnati Mayor Roxanne Qualls was the main honoree, receiving the Civic Gumption Award for her lifelong dedication to Cincinnati, including developing the Artworks program, the city’s recycling program, support of the Great Neighborhood initiative and transportation initiatives. She served on City Council for eight years and was mayor for six years.
The event was held at the North Avondale home of Vanessa and Byron White.
Kay Pettengill has been a key supporter of Stepping Stones for more than five decades. She is a former board president and tireless fund raiser. During the presentation, Awards Chair Vanessa White noted that Stepping Stones helps shape the lives of generations of young volunteers as well as meeting the needs of people throughout the community who have disabilities.
