Wrapping Up the 2014 Sensory Needs Respites!

Date posted: January 21, 2015

We all know that as the new year approached people tend to use this as a time of reflection on the accomplishments of the past year. So, I want to take this time to tell you all about some of the really cool things our participants have been doing with us these past few sessions!

Cheyanne has shown herself to have some very impressive artistic talents. Below you can see her (unfinished) rendition of Captain Feathersword, a character from The Wiggles. She is also a budding filmographer-when she isn’t drawing, she is letting her creative juices flow through filming the world around her!

Jacob is the master of all things puzzle! He can do any and all of the puzzles on camp in what seems to be no time flat! His fine motor skills and pattern recognition are stellar and when he’s not bending puzzles to his will, he enjoys the gross motor fun of the swings and watching videos on his iPad.

Tori has really enjoyed getting the opportunity to spend whole weekends socializing with her peers and staff. She does an excellent job sharing spaces and enjoys learning new games and learning anything in general. You’ll find Tori engaged in all sorts of activities from facial recognition games on her iPad, to playing Jenga, to playing on the sensory trail, to singing up a storm with Katy Perry!

Michael is a wonderfully easy-going guy who loves to rock out to music and hang out with his best buddy (and staff) Tyler! These two are always walking around camp looking for something new to try-just the other weekend they decided to try out our bikes and had a super fun time! Here’s Michael swinging in the gross motor room and playing catch with an exercise ball at the same time!

Delaney is new to Sensory Respites this season! She had a blast and her favorite room by far was the library! Miss Delaney loves getting to stretch out out the lush carpet and curl up around a bean bag chair and enjoy her staff reading her a story, or pick a movie to watch or just plain hang out!

Matthew and Michael have become an inseparable pair. The two can be found gallivanting about camp going from one activity to the next and seizing every moment as a chance to have fun! Matthew loves swinging in the gross motor room and can be quite the artist himself with the whiteboard in the 1:1 sharing space.
