Fall Holidays at Respites!

Date posted: November 24, 2015

It was a tad early to be celebrating Thanksgiving, but we’ve already had a fantastic Respite Thanksgiving celebration! We also recently celebrated Halloween at the Allyn Campus during a Weekend Respite!

Our Spook Fest Respite was a blast! Glen Este High School’s Key Club helped us to have a Saturday afternoon spooky trail. We had a costume dance party, painted pumpkins, and decorated a lot of camp to make our Halloween awesome!

From guest appearances by the Smurfs, to a priest, to a court jester, staff and participant costumes were fantastic!

Our Allyn campus food service team cooked up a fantastic Halloween dinner! These stuffed pepper jack-o-lanterns were both delicious and fun!

We made a lot of Halloween treats, and these ghost cookies were delicious!

Our Respite just before Thanksgiving was also our Abundant Arts weekend, and we had quite a few creative masterpieces!

We made clay pinch pots, and they turned out to be fabulous! Here's a picture of them before they got painted.

Tie dye can sometimes be a mystery, and you never know exactly how it will turn out. Our participants did a fantastic job though--this tie dye looks awesome!

To wrap up our November respite, we had a Thanksgiving lunch for family members and caregivers. It was a lot of fun to have so many people together. We are so grateful for our participants, family members, and caregivers!

We had lots of fun making these turkeys! They're made from pretzels, rolos candy, reeses pieces, candy eyeballs, and candy corn. They were a delicious addition to our Thanksgiving lunch!
