The Perks of a Summer Camp Job over an Internship

Summer Camp Jobs over Summer Internship - Stepping Stones OhioStepping Stones offers seasonal summer camp job opportunities with perks you won’t find at a typical summer internship!

Why work at Stepping Stones’ Summer Camps?
We asked our summer camp staff what they enjoy about working at Stepping Stones’ day and overnight camps for people with disabilities and they rejoiced in the many perks.

“There are endless reasons why I love camp!” shared Colleen. “Being able to be a part of such a fun and happy place is a privilege. I absolutely love all of the friendships, memories and smiles that I have experienced at Stepping Stones and cannot wait for more! Camp is a place where everyone can be themselves, no matter what.”

The American Camping Association recently shared an article on 3 Reasons to Choose a Job at Camp Instead of a Summer Internship and we concur. ACA president and CEO Tom Rosenberg shared that at summer camp, you gain a lot of valuable work experience that will carry you into your future careers. Not only that, summer camp staff also get to work in an inspirational environment – that cultivates leadership and problem-solving skills in a beautiful, natural setting.

A Summer of Adventure
At Stepping Stones, a summer camp position is more than a job – it’s also an adventure. “One of the many reasons I love camp is that each day is an adventure,” said Kaylee. “I get to spend each day with the most wonderful and loving people in the world.”

Each week, our summer camp programs have a new unique theme and a schedule of exciting theme-based activities and experiences for campers to enjoy. At Stepping Stones, each camp day truly brings new adventure. As a camp counselor, you champion campers as they embark on adventures – from sledding down hills of hay to picking up a bow and arrow for the first time at the archery range.

Witness Progress in the Making
More than 900 children and adults with disabilities attend summer programming at Stepping Stones and as a member of our summer staff team, you see the progress each camper makes through their summer camp adventures.

“I love summer camp at Stepping Stones because I love seeing each participant grow as a person,” shared Hayden. Summer camp is a place where our participants not only build magical memories and friendships to carry them through the year, they also develop confidence. Stepping Stones’ summer camp is a place where people with disabilities safely step outside their comfort zones to enjoy new experiences and discover new talents. Our summer camp team sees well beyond a disability, to champion every ounce of ability.
