Sporting Clays Tournament Kicks-Off with a Bang
Date posted: May 2, 2017
On Friday, April 28, 100 shooters gathered at the world-class Elk Creek Hunt Club for the first Sporting Clays Tournament for Stepping Stones, presented by PLK Communities. Spearheaded by event co-chairs Peter Borchers and Brian Folke, the first-time event expanded support for Stepping Stones and netted more than $35,000 for our year-round programs for people with disabilities.
With lots of sunshine and 70 degree temperatures, it was a beautiful day outdoors in Owenton, Kentucky! Shooters enjoyed sandwiches from Jersey Mike’s and smoothies from a Power Blendz truck before hitting the blue and green courses for a 14-station clay shoot, with 100 targets. After the clay shoot, guests relaxed back at the lodge with beer and bourbon tastings, fresh-off-the-grill burgers from FlipDaddy’s, a Gold Star Chili coney bar, Graeter’s ice cream and prize announcements.
We thank all of the day’s attendees, food donors and sponsors for your enthusiasm and support at this new event for Stepping Stones. Also, thank you to Contract Lumber for providing eye and ear protection for all of the shooters.
