On Friday, August 4 – Greater Cincinnati construction companies spent the day volunteering at Stepping Stones’ summer day camp for children and teens with disabilities.

“Construction Come Together Day” organized by Allied Construction Industries and Jostin Construction, provided administrative and finance employees with an opportunity to trade office time for summer camp and give back to the community. On the final day of Stepping Stones’ summer season, 40 volunteers from thirteen area construction companies served side-by-side as camp buddies, joining campers in fishing, music and art activities.

“I love the mix of younger and older professionals,” stated Whitney Eckert, Vice President of Jostin Construction and Stepping Stones board member. “It’s a great opportunity for everyone to unite, get involved on a personal level and bring awareness to an important organization.”

Corporate partners who participated in the day of volunteering included Allied Construction Industries, Assured Partners, ATC Construction, Beckett Springs, Civil Solutions Associates, Danis Building, HGC Construction, Highlift Equipment, Jostin Construction, Messer Construction, Pioneer Construction, Turner Construction and Valley Interior Systems.

Each year, Stepping Stones summer camps provide a day or week of philanthropy to area businesses, church groups and schools. This season’s corporate volunteer groups have also included GE Aviation, Vantiv, Procter & Gamble and Pizza Hut.

“We love our corporate groups and community partners,” shared Stepping Stones Volunteer Coordinator Sara Eby. “When groups come in to volunteer and give their time, they bring such energy to our campus. The volunteers also offer our campers a chance to meet and socialized with someone new – which is a huge step toward building independence and an important part of our mission.”Stepping Stones is currently accepting volunteer applications for our weekend programs through the school-year. Most days, you can find Mark Nelson working at Assured Partners. On August 4th? He was making friends with Spencer on the swings.
