Devan and Adult Day Services Coordinator Phil Taylor make a scarecorona at the Drex Campus in Norwood.

Putting a twist on the traditional scarecrow, members of the Northside community have been designing “scare-coronas” to scare the coronavirus away! It’s an initiative that’s caught on quickly, with more than 260 submissions on display around Northside for local residents to enjoy on walking or driving tours.

Making Scarecoronas at Stepping Stones

When Adult Day Services Coordinator Phil Taylor, a Northside resident, introduced the community project to our program – we had to join in the fun!! Small groups at our three Adult Day program locations each designed their own “scarecorona” with mixed materials. Crafting these off-beat characters definitely brought a spirit of fun and creativity to our program during this rather unusual time.

Thank you, Northside, for inspiring our works of art! We appreciated the creative challenge and enjoyed bringing our own versions to life. We are also quite proud to say participants of Stepping Stones have designed the FIRST scarecoronas to hit Batavia, Norwood and Western Hills. Thanks for the inspiration.

Psst: We also highly recommend checking out the Northside gallery for many more highly imaginative scarecoronas. Fingers crossed they work!
