Updates on the Summer 2020 Program Season

Date posted: May 14, 2020

Dear Families and Caregivers,

We hope this finds you well. We also wanted to reach out to you with an update on our summer season.

After much thoughtful consideration, and given the uncertainty of current conditions, Stepping Stones has come to the tough decision that we will need to postpone the opening of camp this summer. Camp will no longer be opening the week of June 7th as originally planned.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created a lot of uncertainty for our summer camp program structure, who we can serve safely and amount of participants we are permitted to serve. As the health and wellbeing of our camp community continues to be our highest priority, the Rec & Leisure team is working diligently to modify camp operations to keep in alignment with recommendations from the CDC, ACA and state and county officials.

We are anticipating a new start date for camp the week of June 28 and end date of August 14. With this shift in schedule, we ask you to please hold tight with us until we receive further information from the Governor’s office and the Ohio Dept. of Health. Hopefully that information will be shared with us around May 18. Once Stepping Stones has guidance from the state, we will be in contact with you to share more information about our modified plan. We greatly appreciate your patience, as the later we wait the more likely clarity becomes.

With these changes, please know that we are aware of the importance summer camp plays in the lives of our participants and families. The summer camp season is very important to us all and it’s difficult to make decisions that impact our traditional structure. These are unprecedented times that have moved us all to a new normal, forced us to put so much on pause and pressed us in ways we couldn’t imagine before this crisis began. Our goal is to move forward as best we can, operating a modified version of the summer camp program.
