An Update on Our Summer Rec & Leisure Program Season

Date posted: June 9, 2020

To our camp community,

Over the last few months, the COVID-19 pandemic has touched all of our lives, shaping a new normal that is very different from where we were a year ago. As the crisis evolved, Stepping Stones watched with growing concern and questions on how we could safely provide the traditional summer camp experience we have been glad to offer for the last 57 years.

Since closing our program doors in March, our leadership has been diligently working behind-the-scenes with the Ohio Dept. of Health and Dept. of Developmental Disabilities as well as the CDC and American Camp Association to determine how to move forward with service delivery.

Our Modified Summer 2020 Plan

Our 2020 summer camp plan is to delay the start of camp to June 28th and serve a limited number of small, closed camper pods with no outside visitors or volunteers. To further limit risk of exposure, we’re also suspending all camp-wide events such as cookouts and talent shows.

Additional COVID-19 modifications to our summer programs can be found through the links below:

COVID-19 has changed a lot, but it has not changed the passion and love for the work we do or the individuals we are so fortunate to serve. Summer camp is our signature and most beloved program. It’s also the foundation of Stepping Stones’ place in the community and a vital resource for families. We will sincerely miss seeing many of your faces in the weeks ahead, but hope to see you in our programs again in the future.

Looking Ahead

Stepping Stones’ Saturday Kids Clubs, Saturday Young Adults Club and Weekend Overnight Respite programs are tentatively scheduled to resume this September. We also look forward to a more traditional summer camp program resuming in Summer 2021.
