On Sept. 25, Stepping Stones was glad to host a team of Michelman volunteers for a day of community service! A small but mighty 6-man crew visited our Given Campus in Indian Hill, as our very first volunteer group since March. They took advantage of clear skies and sunshine, spending a beautiful fall day completing outdoor projects.

Michelman‘s volunteer experience at Stepping Stones was the culmination of months of coordinating and modifying plans during the pandemic. Originally, the team was scheduled to volunteer in Adult Day Services – a year-round program where adults and seniors with varying disabilities build independence. Current circumstances prompted an alternative plan, with the volunteers lending helping hands to our maintenance team.

With 23 acres, our Given Campus has a number of outdoor projects where volunteer support is appreciated. The Michelman volunteers worked with Maintenance Coordinator Rich Events to make updates to a fence line beside Hillside Hall. They also dedicated their afternoon to raking up the many leaves blanketing the playground, used by our weekend Saturday Club programs as well as students of Step-Up Autism Alternative Education.

While original plans needed to change, Michelman’s community service day at Stepping Stones was a great success! We very much appreciate their willingness to adapt with us and spend a day beautifying our grounds.
