The summer months have been a season of adventures for Our Step-Up program! Step-Up continues to represent the region as one of the most progressive alternative education programs for students with severe autism, currently serving 24 students who have been thriving in our extended school year program. During the past three months, our Given campus was also home to our summer camp program, allowing our students to experience the best of both worlds.

This summer, employees from Pizza Huts across Cincinnati stepped out of their busy pizza kitchens to volunteer at our summer day camp! On 4 days of volunteering, they helped campers with art projects, fishing, music and drama activities. In addition to volunteering, Cincinnati Pizza Huts hosted a spring fundraising campaign for Stepping Stones, raising $25,000! Thank you for all of your overwhelming support of our campers!

On August 4, construction workers from across Cincinnati stepped out of the office to enjoy a day of volunteering at summer day camp! More than 40 volunteers from 13 construction companies served side-by-side as camp buddies.

Our 2017 Given Summer Day Camp season had an amazing array of memorable adventures, including our annual “hay sledding” event, color wars, talent show, junior olympics and kids’ carnival. Special guests included several visits from Graham Cracker the Therapy Pony and mule rides courtesy of Gorman Heritage Farms. Swimming, water play, sports and art filled our days to the brim with fun and friendship. We look forward to seeing everyone at our weekend programs during the coming year!

At Camp Allyn, it’s been a barrel of fun this summer at our Overnight Staycations. We kicked off the start of an amazing season with “Summer Fiesta” and continued our adventures by celebrating fun and fitness, international holidays, journeying through decades of the past and future, and traveling aboard the Hogwarts Express in our “World of Wizardry” theme. In our final week of everything “Wacky & Wonderful” at camp, there were plenty of water games and sports challenges to wrap up a fantastic season. We can’t wait to see everyone again next year!

Our 2017 Allyn Summer Day Camp season has been filled with amazing and memorable adventures! It has been an action-packed nine weeks of art, sports, swimming, music, drama and dance. From our kick-off "Summer Fiesta" to the closing "Wacky & Wonderful," our participants and staff have enjoyed every minute and can't wait to see everyone again next season!

In Spring 2017, Greater Cincinnati's Pizza Hut franchisee CFL Pizza, LLC hosted a 9-week fundraising campaign to support our programs. To celebrate the success of the campaign, CFL Pizza hosted a luncheon at Maggiano's where leaders from the top fund-raising stores received recognition and were presented with terrariums, made by participants of Stepping Stones' Adult Day program. Stepping Stones was also presented with a $25,000 check to support summer programs.

In June, the Pizza Hut Colerain location opened their doors to welcome participants of our BeauVita West Adult Day program. Participants enjoyed a tour and learned about the daily operations of managing their pizza kitchen.

On Monday, June 12, 160 golfers hit the green to support Stepping Stones at the 2017 Golf Classic! The 16th annual event was presented by Niagara with player gifts sponsored by Republic Plastics and supports our year-round programs for people with disabilities.

Participants of our Allyn Campus Adult Day program visited the Amelia Pizza Hut! Enjoying a private tour, the adults learned about all of the kitchen equipment and procedures, as well as made personal pan pizzas. Stepping Stones is proud to be the exclusive charity partner of CFL Pizza, LLC - Greater Cincinnati's Pizza Hut franchisee. In addition to these store visits with our participants, 31 Pizza Hut locations hosted an eight-week fundraiser for our programs this spring and staff are scheduled to volunteer at each Stepping Stones' location this summer.
