Celebrating Our Summer Volunteers

Our 55th summer season of fun and adventure at Stepping Stones Overnight and Day Camps has come to a close and we are grateful for the more than 400 individual volunteers who came from coast to coast to serve as camp buddies for our participants. Special kudos to the more than 60 businesses, community organizations and church groups who volunteered time and talent to make days brighter for our staff and campers: Franciscans for the Poor, Vantiv/Worldplay, Pizza Hut, Cincinnati Bell, Johnson & Johnson, North Side Bank & Trust, Goshen Schools, Hyde Park United Methodist Church/Summer Impact, American Modern Insurance Group, GE Aviation, AGI, USI Benefits and Amazon Cares. We can’t wait to have you all back next year!

Mount Notre Dame Senior Creates A Captivating Capstone Project

Leah Gutzwiller, an incoming senior at Mount Notre Dame Academy, spent several weeks this summer at Given Day Camp creating a "bottle rocket" project for camp participants. Each group decorated their water bottle to serve as their spaceship and then Leah helped them launch it using the water pressure built up from a bicycle pump. Some rockets went as high as the tops of the trees on campus! Leah, who organized the bottle rocket project as her senior Capstone Project, shared her experience this way: “If you are looking for a place to volunteer, 100% do it at Stepping Stones. It’s an amazing experience and such a wonderful place to be. The campers are amazing, and the staff are excellent. Each day provides a sense of accomplishment and pride that you have made a difference in a camper’s life. Whether it is offering a high-five, helping someone with coloring, playing music with a camper, or even launching a rocket, you will have a ton of fun helping campers have a great day!”
