Planned Giving – Bequest
A common planned giving option is to include a written bequest to Stepping Stones in a will.To those supporters wishing to assure a strong and sustainable future for Stepping Stones by mentioning Stepping Stones in their will, the following bequest form is suggested:
General Bequest
“I give, devise and bequeath to Stepping Stones, Inc. TAX ID #31-0671799 the sum of $________ (or a description of the specific asset) for the benefit of Stepping Stones, Inc. and the agency’s general purposes.”
Specific Bequest
“I give, devise and bequeath to Stepping Stones, inc. TAX ID #31-0671799 the sum of $________ (or a description of the specific asset) for the benefit of Stepping Stones, Inc. to be used for the following purpose: (state and describe purpose).
If at any time in the judgement of the trustees of Stepping Stones, Inc. it is impossible or impracticable to carry out exactly the designated purpose, they shall determine an alternative purpose closest to the designated purpose.”
Residuary Bequest
“All the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, I give to Stepping Stones, Inc. TAX ID #31-0671799 for the agency’s general purposes.”
Contingency Bequest
“I devise and bequeath the residue of the property, real and personal and wherever situated, owned by me at my death, to (name of beneficiary), if she/he survives me. If (name of beneficiary) does not survive me, I devise and bequeath my residuary estate to Stepping Stones, Inc. TAX ID #31-0671799 for the agency’s general purposes.”
