Our counselors are a group of enthusiastic individuals who strive to make a difference! Some of our staff come with a background of special education, social work or therapeutic recreation. Other members of our staff team have little to no pervious experience working with people with disabilities – and that’s okay! We will train you on everything you need to know to perform your role well.
The Summer Staff Team is responsible for creating lasting memories, encouraging inclusion and engaging participants in adaptive programs. They are compassionate individuals who are willing and able to assist with lifting, repositioning, meals and all other personal care needs. The skills you learn while working at Stepping Stones will help you navigate through life!

Location: Allyn Campus (1414 Lake Allyn Road, Batavia, Ohio 45103)
Program Times: Nine weeks in the summer, from June 9 – August 9, 2019. Staff training dates will be provided in the job interview.
Ages Served: Our Overnight Staycation program serves a large variety of individuals with disabilities – with participants age 12 through adulthood.
Our Overnight Staycation program currently has Summer Camp Team openings for:
Responsible for staff leadership, ensuring safety, providing personal care to participants, organizing participants’ belongings, planning and leading activities, completing paperwork, behavior intervention and parent/caregiver interactions. (Previously known as lead counselor.)
Responsible for providing personal care to participants, building positive relationships with participants, creating paperwork, parent/caregiver interactions and ensuring safety.
Responsible for leading activities in one or more program activities (i.e. creative arts, music, life skills, sports & games, nature and sensory), adapting activities to meet the individual abilities of campers, assisting groups with care of participants while ensuring safety at all times. (Previously known as a Specialist).
Responsible for safety at our outdoor pool and ponds for fishing and boating. Overnight live-in positions available.
To qualify for the Overnight Staycation Camp Team, you must:
- 18+ with high school diploma or GED preferred
- Successfully complete all background check requirements
- Successfully complete all online and in person training
- Be available to start June 2 and work through August 9, 2019.
