G’day from Day Camp Given!

Date posted: June 20, 2014

Day Camp Given has been very busy for the past two weeks! Our days are constantly filled with great activities that ensure each participant goes home with a fun-filled experience. It was been so exciting meeting all of our new participants, and seeing many familiar smiling faces. As Coordinator it has been a pleasure to see each individual group form a unique bond and personality, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the summer has in store!

For our first week of Day Camp, we celebrated the kick-off of summer with countless sports-related activities! Our Kids spent time exploring various sports and games, which included soccer, baseball and volleyball. Our teens also played many sports, including fun games of water balloon baseball! With the hot weather, it was definitely a fun way to cool down. We also made our own energy drinks which turned into an interesting experiment! We ended our active week with a Putt-Putt/Golf tournament! Our Program Supervisor, Kelsey Sheets, set up a fun golf course in our main field of camp. Groups visited her throughout the day to take their turn practicing their swing and perfecting their putt-putt skills. It was an amazing way to end the week!

For our second week of Day Camp, the kids celebrated with Seaside Celebrations and the teens celebrated with a Vacation Cruise! This week allowed us to get messy with sand, and the teens had a great experience making Sand Art creations at Arts and Crafts. We continued being active by playing beach volleyball in the gym, we used a massive beach ball which made the activity even more fun! Our camp-wide at the end of the week was a sand sculpture building competition. Groups worked on their own sand sculptures together to create unique masterpieces!
