Rainy days can be the best days!

It rained a lot last week, and some people think that can put a cramp on our camp style. Here at the Allyn campus, we like to say, “keep calm and camp on!” even on those dreary days.

So what are some things we get up to when it rains? We love doing art projects—the messier the better! Sometimes that art might be painting the counselor…that seems to be especially popular with our day camp dolphins.

Fashion shows are always a good option, and our participants love nothing better than seeing our staff members dress up from our costume selection. Baking is fun no matter what; one rainy afternoon, the gentlemen of Buckeye lodge made brownies, and decided to get creative and add rice krispies to the brownie batter. Once they were all baked up, they were pretty tasty!

It was a good week to make 4th of July decorations, and these firework paintings look awesome!

The best thing about the rain is all the critters! Both kids and adults love animals, and with all the rain, we have lots of frogs hopping around camp and we’ve seen some turtles too! Jumping in the puddles is fun too, so if those clothes come home kind of muddy, know that we’ve been taking advantage of any puddles around camp!

Rain or shine, we’ll be having a great time at our Allyn campus!
