Rachel Glows at Stepping Stones

Support Stepping Stones year-round programs for people with disabilities in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Summer is within winking distance and Stepping Stones is prepping for the summer activity season for children, teens and adults with disabilities.

Summer at Stepping Stones is a time of magic. Someone who has difficulty walking can suddenly fly in a hot air balloon. Children whose disabilities have turned them into outsiders are suddenly insiders – interacting with friends in games and keeping school skills alive over the long summer break. Summer at Stepping Stones is a time when children learn that they have more abilities than disabilities.

Rachel’s mom says: Stepping Stones is the time when her daughter glows.

Rachel has movement and communication challenges. “She can’t tell me how she fells, but she shows me,” says her mom. “She lights up when we go to Stepping Stones.

“At Stepping Stones, everyone acknowledges her and she acknowledges them. The staff cares about the attendees. We know she’s happy and well taken care of. We have no worries.”

Rachel attended her first summer camp 10 years ago. Now, Rachel attends Saturday Clubs during the school year. She graduates this month and is scheduled to join the Adult Day program in the fall. “We looked at quite a few programs and kept coming back to Stepping Stones. The staff is wonderful. The program is impressive. We knew this is where we need to be.”

We hope you feel this is where your support needs to be.

Stepping Stones’ programs serve more than 1,000 individuals with disabilities each year.

We hope you will consider making a gift to Stepping Stones, to build a summer of possibilities for individuals like Rachel.
