Stepping Stones summer day camp job openings are perfect for college students looking for a rewarding job experience during their summer break.
Our summer day a camp counselors are enthusiastic and strive to make a difference! Lead and engage campers in program activities while being a part of a positive and encouraging work environment.
Some team members come with a background in special education, social work or therapeutic recreation. Others have little to no previous experience working with children and teens with disabilities — and that’s okay. We will gladly train you on everything you need to know to perform your role well.
When Will You Be Working?
Our Summer 2020 day camp season kicks off at the start of June and runs through August 7. The program runs weekdays with approximate hours of 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.

Summer LifeguardsStepping Stones’ summer day camp has an outdoor swimming pool as well a lake for boating and fishing activities. Lifeguards are responsible for maintaining safety during all water activities.
Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR & First Aid certifications are required. If you do not have a certification, Stepping Stones is willing to train the right candidate. Must be age 16 or above and a strong swimmer.
Responsible for maintaining absolute safety at our outdoor pools and waterfront areas used for boating and fishing. Manage and schedule additional lifeguard staff. Attend all paid trainings prior to camp. The ideal candidate will preferably have 2 years of lifeguarding experience and current certifications in CPR, First Aid and Lifeguarding. If you’re not certified, Stepping Stones is willing to train the right candidate.

Day Camp Unit Counselor:
Responsible for providing personal care and building positive relationships with campers, leading program activities, completing paperwork, behavior intervention and ensuring safety at all times. Must be age 16 or above.
Day Camp One-on-One Counselor:
Responsible for providing personal care and building positive relationships with an individual camper, providing alternative activities, completing paperwork, behavior intervention and ensuring safety at all time. Must be age 16 or above.
Day Camp Floating Counselor:
Responsible for filling any position needed at any time during the day. This role requires flexibility and willingness to do what is needed to best support the program. Must be age 16 or above.
Day Camp Activity Specialist:
Responsible for planning and leading activities in one or more program activity areas (i.e. art, music, fun & learning, sports, nature, sensory, etc.), adapting activities to meet the individual needs of campers, assisting groups with care of campers and ensuring safety at all times. Must be age 18 or above.
Day Camp Bus Counselor:
Responsible for ensuring camper safety on the bus, assisting in behavior intervention and greeting parents both before and after camp. The Bus Counselor role will be an additional position to a Day Camp Counselor or Specialist.
Day Camp Volunteer Coach:
Responsible for planning and leading volunteer training, managing and placing volunteers on a day-to-day basis, processing volunteer applications, record keeping and coaching unit staff on how to best utilize volunteers. This is a paid positions and is an integral part of supporting camper units. The role requires high energy, strong organizational sklls and a love for camp culture and working with kids and teens with disabilities.
To Qualify for a Day Camp Team opening, you must:
- Be at least 16 years of age. 18+ with a high school diploma or GED preferred
- Successfully complete all background check requirements
- Successfully complete all online and in person training
- Be available to start in early June and work through the end of camp at the start of August
