Stepping Stones summer day camp job openings are perfect for college students looking for a rewarding job experience during their summer break.
Our summer day a camp counselors are enthusiastic and strive to make a difference! Lead and engage campers in program activities while being a part of a positive and encouraging work environment.
Some team members come with a background in special education, social work or therapeutic recreation. Others have little to no previous experience working with children and teens with disabilities — and that’s okay. We will gladly train you on everything you need to know to perform your role well.
When Will You Be Working?
Our Summer 2021 day camp season kicks off at the start of June and runs through August 7. The program operates weekdays with approximate hours of 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.

2021 Summer Day Camp Job Openings
Unit AdvisorResponsibilities include staff leadership and direction; safety and quality care assurance; assistance in maintaining group and camper belongings; accurate and timely completion of paperwork; emergency response and behavior intervention; parent/caregiver communication; safe and efficient driveway protocols; staff training and performance feedback; all other tasks as assigned.
Activity Advisor
Responsibilities include staff leadership and direction; planning, adapting, and implementing program activities; unit time activity plan reviews; daily preparation of activity supplies; assistance with staff training and safe and efficient driveway protocols; emergency response and behavior intervention as needed; all other tasks as assigned.
Activity Specialist
Responsibilities include planning and leading activities (e.g., art, music, fun and learning, sports, nature, and sensory); activity adaptation to meet camper abilities; daily preparation and clean-up of activity materials; assistance with participant care, safety assurance, and documentation.
Unit Leader
Responsibilities include support for unit group participants and staff; facilitation of unit activities; safety assurance; participant personal care; documentation paperwork; maintenance of group and participant belongings; behavior intervention.
Unit Counselor
Responsibilities include participant engagement and personal care; following safety guidelines; documentation paperwork; assistance to Unit Leader in all group tasks; behavior intervention as needed. Floating Counselor responsibilities include fulfilling needed roles at any time during camp; following safety guidelines. *Requires a great deal of flexibility and willingness to help where necessary.
Lead Lifeguard
Responsibilities include oversight of aquatic programs; staff scheduling; daily maintenance of pool and pond areas; enforcement of aquatic safety and compliance protocols; staff training; accurate records management. *Requires weekend hours for pool maintenance.
Lifeguard
Responsibilities include constant safety assurance around all water areas; assistance with aquatic programs. *Requires strong swimming abilities; Lifeguard Certificate preferred.
Work Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age. 18+ with a high school diploma or GED, preferred.
- Successfully complete all background check requirement
- Successfully complete all online and in-person training
- Be available to start in early June and work through the end of camp on August 8, 2021
