Other members of our staff team have little to no pervious experience working with people with disabilities – and that’s okay! We will train you on everything you need to know to perform your role well.
The Summer Staff Team is responsible for creating lasting memories, encouraging inclusion, engaging participants in adaptive programs. They are compassionate individuals who are willing and able to assist with lifting, repositioning, meals and all other personal care needs. Location: Given Campus (5650 Given Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45243)
Program Times: Nine weeks in the summer, Monday through Friday. Camp dates start June 10 and run to August 9, 2019. Staff training dates will be provided in the interview.
Ages Served: Campers who attend our Summer Day Camp are between the ages 5 and 22 years old.
We Currently Have Summer Day Camp Openings For:
Responsible for maintaining absolute safety at our outdoor pools and waterfront areas used for boating and fishing. Manage and schedule additional lifeguard staff. Attend all paid trainings prior to camp. The ideal candidate will preferably have 2 years of lifeguarding experience and current certifications in CPR, First Aid and Lifeguarding. If you’re not certified, Stepping Stones is willing to train the right candidate.

Day Camp Unit Leader:
Responsible for ensuring safety, providing personal care to campers, volunteer management, staff leadership, planning and leading program activities, completing paperwork, interactions with parents/caregivers, organizing campers’ belongings and behavior intervention.
Day Camp Unit Counselor:
Responsible for providing personal are and building positive relationships with campers, leading program activities, completing paperwork, behavior intervention and ensuring safety at all times.
Day Camp One-on-One Counselor:
Responsible for providing personal care and building positive relationships with an individual camper, providing alternative activities, completing paperwork, behavior intervention and ensuring safety at all time.
Day Camp Floating Counselor:
Responsible for rilling any position needed at any time during the day. This role requires flexibility and willingness to do what is needed to best support the program.
Day Camp Specialist:
Program specialists are responsible for planning and leading camp activities in one or more activity areas, i.e.: art music, sports, sensory, nature, etc. Responsible for adapting activities to meet the individual needs of campers, assisting groups with the care of campers and ensuring safety at all times.
Day Camp Counselor:
Responsible for campers on the bus to and from camp, ensuring safety on the bus, assisting in behavior intervention and greeting parents both before and after camp. The Bus Counselor role will be an additional position to a Day Camp Counselor or Specialist.
Day Camp Lifeguard:
Lifeguards are responsible for maintaining absolute safety at our outdoor pools and the ponds we use for fishing and boating activities.
Day Camp Volunteer Coach:
Responsible for planning and leading the training of program volunteers and overseeing volunteers on a day-to-day basis. Coaching unit staff on how to best utilize group volunteers and volunteer appreciation. This role require a great deal of organization and time management skills.
To Qualify for a Day Camp Team opening, you must:
- Be at least 16 years of age. 18+ with a high school diploma or GED preferred
- Successfully complete all background check requirements
- Successfully complete all online and in person training
- Be available to start June 2 and work through August 9, 2019
